Product Description

Intel 256 GB M.2 NVMe PCIe Gen3 x4 SSD – Refurbished

Description

This 256 GB Intel SSD in M.2 NVMe format is a high-performance storage solution designed for IT maintenance professionals and refurbishers. Designed to effectively replace mechanical drives or SATA SSDs limited to 600 MB/s, this module utilises four PCIe data lanes to maximise operating system responsiveness and reduce latency when loading heavy applications.

Technically, this drive is based on Intel's 3D NAND flash memory architecture, ensuring optimal storage density and better thermal management. The NVMe (Non-Volatile Memory express) protocol allows direct communication with the processor, eliminating the bottlenecks of older interfaces. Each refurbished unit undergoes a strict audit including S.M.A.R.T. data analysis to verify cell wear rates and the absence of bad sectors, ensuring reliability identical to new for corporate IT fleets.

The standard 2280 format (22mm wide by 80mm long) ensures perfect integration into the majority of modern laptops, workstations, and ultra-compact units such as Intel NUCs. Its low power consumption in standby mode (DevSlp) makes it a component of choice for extending battery life in the Ultrabook segment.

Workshop Advice & Usage

During installation, ensure that the target machine's BIOS/UEFI is configured in AHCI/NVMe mode and not Legacy mode for optimal detection. As a refurbished product, we systematically recommend a firmware update via the "Intel Memory and Storage Tool" utility after installation to guarantee maximum stability under Windows 10/11. If the drive is installed in an environment with high thermal demand, adding a thermal pad between the SSD and the chassis or a passive heatsink is advised to avoid "Thermal Throttling".
