Product Description

Mechanic Dr.X Pro - Ultra-Precision Desoldering Wick (1.5mm x 1.5m)

Technical Description

The Mechanic Dr.X Pro desoldering wick in the 1.5mm version is the ultimate tool for precision micro-soldering. Specifically developed for work on high-density component motherboards (iPhone, iPad, MacBook), its thinness allows targeted access to the most restricted areas. It is ideal for cleaning solder residue between miniature components or on IC chip pads without risking sucking up solder from neighbouring components.

Its manufacture in deoxidised pure copper, combined with Mechanic's patented "High Intensity" flux, ensures an extremely fast temperature rise. This thermal reactivity allows tin to be extracted instantly, thus avoiding overheating delicate tracks or damaging the protective varnish (solder mask) of the motherboard.

Technical Specifications

  • Reference: Mechanic Dr.X Pro (Ultra-Fine Series)
  • Material: Pure copper with high thermal conductivity
  • Width: 1.5 mm (Special micro-soldering format)
  • Length: 1.5 metres
  • Integrated Flux: Dr.X active formula for maximum capillarity
  • Structure: Anti-fraying geometric braiding
  • Usage: Cleaning miniature BGA pads, FPC connectors, SMD 0201/0402

Advantages

  • Surgical Precision: Its narrow width allows working under a microscope with total visibility and no overflow.
  • Component Safety: Absorbs solder without requiring pressure, protecting microscopic pads from lifting.
  • Fast-Acting Flux: Eliminates the need to add extra flux, thereby reducing fouling of the work area.
  • Zero Thermal Stress: Suction is so fast that it reduces the PCB's exposure time to the iron's heat.
  • Professional Packaging: The rotating case allows only the necessary length to be pulled out, keeping the rest of the wick safe from oxidation.

Workshop Tip: For micro-soldering work under a microscope, cut the end of the wick at an angle (45°) to obtain an even finer tip. Use a "Fine point" (I) or "Curved" (IS) iron tip at a regulated temperature. Let the natural capillarity of the Dr.X copper absorb the tin: as soon as the wick changes colour, remove it gently to prevent it from sticking to the cooled pad.
