Mechanic Dr.X Pro - High Capillarity Desoldering Wick (3mm x 1.5m)
Technical Description
The Mechanic Dr.X Pro desoldering wick represents the high end of solder extraction. Made from ultra-fine copper wires braided in an optimised geometric structure, it offers a significantly higher absorption capacity than conventional braids. With its 3mm width, it is specifically calibrated for work requiring efficient cleaning of large areas, such as solder pads after removing an integrated circuit (IC) or cleaning residues on charging connectors.
The secret of the Dr.X Pro range lies in its chemical impregnation: it contains a special active flux that promotes an almost instantaneous temperature rise. This allows for the removal of residual tin in a single pass, thus limiting thermal stress on the PCB and preventing accidental lifting of pads. Its ergonomic casing protects the wick from oxidation and facilitates its precise unwinding on the workbench.
Technical Specifications
- Reference: Mechanic Dr.X Pro (High Quality Desoldering Wick)
- Material: High conductivity pure copper
- Width: 3.0 mm (Ideal for medium to large surfaces)
- Length: 1.5 metres
- Flux: Integrated special high-intensity formula
- Anti-Oxidation: Surface treatment for long-term preservation
- Application: BGA pad cleaning, through-hole component removal, connector cleaning
Advantages
- Ultra-Fast Absorption: Sucks up solder instantly, reducing the iron's contact time with the motherboard.
- Track Protection: Its flexibility and thermal reactivity avoid the need to "scrub" the PCB, minimising the risk of physical damage.
- Zero Corrosive Residue: Leaves a clean surface after use, facilitating visual inspection and the placement of the new component.
- Optimised Thermal Conductivity: Allows working at lower iron temperatures, preserving the life of your tips.
- Anti-Waste Design: The tight braiding holds the solder without letting it run, allowing full use of the length.
Workshop tip: For maximum efficiency, place the wick flat on the solder to be removed and place your (previously cleaned) iron tip on top. Let the heat pass through the wick without applying excessive pressure. Once the wick is saturated with tin (it turns silver), cut the used part with precision cutters to keep the wick always clean.
